Hazardous Area Training

Back to news

In common with most Process Sector Electrical Contractors FSD work within Hazardous Areas. FSD’s scope is predominantly in installation and certification of installations within the water industry sector. FSD has always maintained CompEx 9&10 trained operatives that install and test installations but we had not fully trained all pertinent areas of the business.  Therefore, we took the decision to invest in increasing the capability across the whole FSD organisation.

SHEQ Manager David Wray worked closely with Yeovil-based training provider P&R Hurt to design a bespoke CompEx training course that met the criteria of BSEN60079 with regards to qualification to CompEx accreditation, and also covered specific areas of work that fall within our niche market.

The training took place near our Head Office in Dorking over two days, with a closed book exam at the end of day two.  The candidates came from various departments, and included Site Operatives, Supervisors, Tendering Engineers and Design Engineers.

Certificates have been issued to all candidates and we are very pleased with their success.

FSD now have strengthened their hazardous area knowledge base and will continue to do so through ongoing CompEx 1-4 training.

Our NICEIC Hazardous Area Qualifying Supervisors are also continually assessed by the NICEIC, and work to a very high standard.
