On Wednesday 30th September, Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong, executive director of a division of YTL – the Malaysian company that owns Wessex Water – officially opened Maundown water treatment works.

FSD’s Managing Director, Phil Haines, was honoured to be one of the select few that was invited to attend the opening ceremony following the successful delivery of FSD’s £1.4 million contract at Maundown. FSD were engaged by Wessex as the main electrical contractor, responsible for the main electrical design and installation, and the scope of work included power distribution, profibus cabling installation, fibre optic network installation, instrument installation, and site building services.

It was especially pleasing when FSD were specifically thanked for their contribution by Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong during his opening ceremony speech.

Wessex Water spent £25 million on building the new water treatment works at Maundown, near Wiveliscombe, which uses sophisticated technology and complex processes to treat water from nearby Clatworthy and Wimbleball reservoirs on the edge of Exmoor.

It took five years to build the new plant that delivers improved water quality and also ensures demand will be met for a growing population.
