As part of FSD’s commitment to ongoing improvements in standards, a Health & Safety Seminar took place in mid-June. This regular event, which spans two days, is an invaluable information-sharing experience which brings together Site Managers and Supervisors from across the country, along with office-based project staff and invited guests from key clients and suppliers.
The wide-ranging agenda covered customer relations, innovations, a business overview and general site issues, with a focus on Health & Safety. SHEQ Manager Dave Wray gave an overview on Health & Safety performance which included Accident Statistics over the past five years; the decreasing trend line confirming that FSD are constantly improving in all aspects of Health & Safety. This is largely due the increased awareness of all staff and changes in culture; an AFR of 0.00 for this year and a ROSPA Gold award is great testament that.
Breakout group discussions produced some valuable ideas on ways to improve SHEQ practices and project delivery, and a logo and slogan were designed, which are to be used to enable better communication and promote attitudes to Health & Safety.
Guest speaker Alan Cheung from Costain gave a talk on Behavioural Safety and led a group discussion.
The Seminar served as an excellent forum for FSD’s continuous improvement objectives and was a great success. As always, it demonstrated the quality and the commitment of the staff we employ.
