Derby Digesters

Field Systems Designs were awarded the Electrical Design and Installation contract for the Mainland Digesters 8 and 9 at Derby STW. Project scope included the following:

• Design, supply, install and test, cable management, cabling, building services, external lighting, instrumentation, earthing and lightning protection associated with the two new digesters and two new associated motor control centres.
• HV and LV cabling associated with connecting a new Jenbacher generator to a new 400/11000V transformer to supply electricity to the site network from fuel generated from the new and upgraded digestion process.
• Modifications to the existing hot water system and gas flare stack installation to accommodate the increase in digestion capacity and connection of the controls to the existing site SCADA system.
• FSDL certified to NICEIC hazardous area accreditation the hazardous area installation which included zone 2 certified cabling and external lighting.
