Glencorse WTW, located south of Edinburgh, Scotland, is a new water treatment works delivering improved quality drinking water to the city of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. The Glencorse Water Treatment Works project is the largest single project within Scottish Water’s investment programme and will deliver 175Ml/d of potable water.
The plant consists of:
- Treatment building containing the administration block, MCC rooms, CoCoDaffs, main plant area and chemical rooms
- Intake building containing the main intake works, HV & LV transformer rooms, Main MCC, generator room & fuel tanks
- 4 chamber plant buildings
FSD were contracted by Black & Veatch to undertake the electrical installation for the works which included:
- Install complex cable containment in all areas
- Install, gland, terminate & test LV, control & instrumentation cabling
- Install free-issue Local Chemical Control Panels, Remote I/O panels & instrumentation
- Install & test Fire Alarm system
- Install & test Intruder Alarm system
- Install CCTV system to B&V design
- Install Site wide earthing system including ensuring the main earth terminal met regulations, main bonding & supplementary bonding.
- Install 2 new communication network systems
- Internal & external lighting design and installation, both industrial and commercial
- Emergency lighting design and installation.
- Design, procurement & installation of complex lighting control panels to meet the clients request to reduce energy waste ensuring all site wide lighting can be controlled from the main control room in the Treatment building
- Small Power design, procurement and installation, both industrial and commercial
- Structural & electronic Lightning protection design
- Profibus & Fibre Optic installation, glanding, terminating and testing.
- Production of NICEIC certificate for the site works
On the back of completing the main site works FSD received orders to complete three small sites away from the main works:
- Lothianburn PRV Chamber
- Alnwickhill PRV Chamber
- Hillend Pumping station
These three sites included the following works:
- Install, gland, terminate & test LV, control & instrumentation cabling
- Install free-issue local control panels & instrumentation
- Design & install internal lighting, emergency lighting & Small power
- Design & install electronic lightning protection
- Production of NICEIC certificate for the site works
