Riverside Resource Recovery
Customer: Hitachi Zosen Inova
Site Owner: Cory Environmental
Value: £8m
Riverside Resource Recovery is a new Energy from Waste facility at Belvedere, London. It was designed to have an annual capacity of 585,000 tonnes of waste and produce an output of 50MW. The waste is delivered using the River Thames, thus keeping 100,000 HGVs off London’s congested roads each year.
In total, FSD installed circa 180km of cable and 20km of cable containment, with a peak labour force in excess of 70 operatives.
FSD were contracted by Swiss company AE&E Inova (now Hitachi Zosen Inova) to design, supply and install the LV Distribution System including cabling and BusDuct, and all of the Process Control & Instrumentation cabling. The design of the cable support system required detailed planning due to the congested nature of the installation, and to ensure no clashes it was detailed on the overall site 3D model.
In addition to the circa £8million order from Hitachi Zosen Inova, FSD were also successful in winning a contract from ABB to install and cable their LV switchboards, from Endress & Hauser to install their Instrumentation, including all pipework, and from Metso AG to install data comms cabling throughout the building.
FSD started on site in September 2009, and commissioning was completed in early 2011.
